The 2016 Let’s Talk Hook Up Royal Star, fly down/fly back adventure started three days prior to arriving in Cabo San Lucas, Baja Mexico. Loading the boat with all our gear was quick and easy with the help of the Royal Star crew.
Anglers could either ride the boat down and back or fly to Cabo San Lucas directly and meet the boat. Arriving on the Royal Star’s deck was full of anticipation of giant yellowfin tuna and exotic destinations that are fished only by a few anglers in search of that “fish of a lifetime”.
We departed from Cabo San Lucas to quickly enter the toughest, most challenging stand up sport fishery for giant yellow fin tuna as the Royal Star ventured to the renowned trophy yellowfin tuna destinations including the Hurricane Bank and the waters surrounding the legendary Revillagigedo Island Reserve. What separates these voyages from all others is travel time is minimized by departing and returning to Cabo San Lucas. As the Royal Star targets the most formidable game fish with a long history of incredible success this unique ultra-limited load adventure is ideal for the angler seeking the adventure and challenge of the amazing sub-tropical giant yellow fin tuna fishery in only 11 days.
One of the things that stood out to me was how many people were able to land a new personal best tuna. Both the adventure and education you will experience on these trips is like nothing else you will find anywhere. I would like to say thank you to the crew as they are truly some of the best in all the San Diego fleet.
Two of the anglers on this adventure stood out to me as the most improved during the 11 days on-board of the Royal Star was Greg Akinshin and Steve Johnson. Steve improved his personal best two times in one day and Greg was one of the top anglers at the end of the trip.
The Royal Star advantage is based on dedicated fisherman with firmly established reputations. The Captain’s/Owner’s – Tim Ekstrom, Randy Tou
ssaint, and Brian Simms are proven experienced professionals. The Royal Star is widely recognized for first-class standards and diligently maintain every trip with limited angler loads and impeccable service. The crew of the Royal Star is an experienced dedicated team to developing your fishing knowledge while proving a safe efficient atmosphere on deck and will exceed your every expectation.
The Royal Star Galley, led by Chefs Mike and Nestor offers innovative contemporary cuisine including 3 fantastic, deluxe meals each day. Also every morning and afternoon hors d’oeuvres are served. With the Royal Star’s many years of experience as leaders in the long-range fishing industry they take tremendous pride in the operation and continuing improvement. Every member of the crew takes pride in their respect, commitment and performance.
The Royal Star arrived back in Cabo after our eleven-day adventure and the anglers off loaded their gear in San Diego three days later. The Royal Star’s fish processing starts the moment you land your prize catch and is continued with fish processing services by Fisherman’s Processing in San Diego. Fisherman’s Processing offers many services such as filleting, same-day pick-up, smoking, jerky, home of the tuna burger and many other processing requests.
